Heaven's Mercy Seat

It's just me and God. Me singing; God listening. Me and God in the room as I sang...as I sang from my heart. I started singing a line about God being Judgment and struggled coming up with the words to follow that powerful acknowledgment (which was unlike how the rest of the song seemed to flow).

Suddenly, I envisioned being in a courtroom. Jesus was in the judgment seat...on the throne. On the stand to his right, was the man who was being sentenced/judged. I knew the wrong he’d done, and I wasn’t happy about it. At one time in my life, it’d have been unforgivable. But as I sat there looking at him, I remembered the tears flowing from his eyes and his shoulders heaving; I felt his heavy heart filled with sadness and conviction. And I felt sorry for him. “We’re living in a broken world, and people are hurting,” I thought, “including him. He’s done…is doing what he knows to do. God can teach us differently. People can, in fact, change with Jesus.”

So as I sat out where the lawyers normally sit, my perspective shifted from Prosecutor to Defender...or rather Advocate. And as it came my time to speak, what came out of my mouth surprised even me. “I hope he gets mercy!” I yelled out as I looked over toward the Judge and smyled. “I hope he gets mercy!” My heart was settled, and without another word, I somehow knew the Judge was pleased. {End scene}

"Wow!" I thought as I snapped back to the present moment. You got my attention, Lord. Only God can do that! Powerful.

You’re powerful, and I thank you, Jesus, for your great mercy. None of which we deserve but everything we need. Who are we not to extend it?

Lord, I thank you for your mercy that is new every morning. I thank you for forgiveness, and I also thank you for change. Thank you for changing me and my perspective to God-perspective. God, you’re so good, and I love you! Thank you for loving me…us. Thank you for how you love and why. Holy, holy, holy, you are <3 Lord in the mighty name of Jesus, I pray you have mercy on us, and I thank you for it. Amen.

Mercy. Forgiveness. Love in Jesus’ name!

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him." (Lamentations 3:22-24)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful." (Colossians 3:12-15)

That’s my God! <3 Thank you, Jesus!!!
