The Power of Influence

Influencer appears to be one of today's more trendy terms and public "positions." But have you ever considered what it really means when you look beyond social media platforms - What does it mean to influence? Dictionaries describe influence as:

  • "the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself" OR

  • "the action or process of producing effects on the actions, behaviors, opinions, etc. of another."

I recently read an article that explained influence as, "the ability to personally effect the actions, decisions, opinions, or thinking of others. Ultimately, influence allows you to get things done and achieve desired outcomes." Additionally, an influencer is described across dictionaries as, "a person or thing that influences another; a person who inspires or guides the [thoughts and] actions of others." By those seemingly simple definitions, we are all influencers. Our attitudes, words, and actions have an impact on everyone around us. So, my question to you is... What kind of influencer do you want to be?

If you will, grab your Bibles and join me as we explore the power of influence (godly influence and unity/togetherness) from a Biblical perspective.

Scripture Reading:

  • Esther 4:13-14 [I encourage you to read the entire book of Esther for its full context.]

It matters with whom (and how) you spend your time. Surround yourself with people who will make you better, and furthermore, be the person who inspires others to be better. Check your circle; check your influence!
